Armenia and Azerbaijan have all the prerequisites to sign a peace agreement to launch a new round of dialogue and to open a new era of peaceful relations in the South Caucasus. As reported by Armenpress, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated during the Panel discussion of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministers in Antalya.
According to him, the past is not a constructive approach, and it will not allow the parties to have an effective discussion, to come to certain solutions.
"I prefer to focus on the realities of the present and the future. In the case of historical issues, which area belonged to whom did he belong to 100 years ago or which side of more people? We will be involved in another conflict. The wish of the Government of the Republic of Armenia is to establish stable and final peace in our region, first of all, including the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. We have succeeded as a result of long negotiations and agreed on the content of the Text of the Peace Agreement. Now we want to start soon, to decide the signing of the agreement, "Mirzoyan said.
Does the current text of the contract give answers to all possible questions? According to Mirzoyan, not at all. He expressed confidence that there is no contract in the world that can give answers to all questions. According to Mirzoyan, this is just a basis for resumption of relations, and as for the problematic issues, according to him, the parties can continue discussions, creating new opportunities for cooperation.
"This is the beginning, and in our opinion, a commission should be formed, which will discuss other problematic issues. What does the parties say to their societies, it is important that Armenia and Azerbaijan send the world to the world. "Yes, the preface to the RA Constitution has a reference to the Declaration of Independence, but in the Constitution of our neighboring country it states that the Azerbaijani republic has declared itself the legal successor of the previous republic. We all know that the First Republic of Azerbaijan has declared its sovereignty over the larger area than the current Azerbaijan, including some of the territories of independent Armenia. So the question again refers to approaches, what we start our dialogue. We want to start the cooperation after receiving the answers to all the questions that we rest on the issues we already have an agreement, "Mirzoyan said.
The RA Foreign Minister stressed that there is now an unprecedented situation when Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to the content of the peace agreement, recognizing the territorial integrity of Minyants after the liquidation of the USSR.
