Russian songs can be banned in Ukraine

At the request of prohibition of Russian-speaking songs in Ukraine, the requested 25,000 signatures have been collected. Now the Country Cabinet must observe this, RIA Novosti writes. The public was published on the website of the Ukrainian government on February 17. Its author offers to block Russian, including Ukrainian performers' songs in Apple Music, Spotify and other structural services.

"Russian-language music can carry ideas and messages that are harmful to Ukrainian identity and have a negative attitude towards Ukraine," the petition said.

The author also claims that listening to Russian-language music "finances the aggressor". He believes that the banning of Russian songs will not limit the freedom of choice of Ukrainians, as they can enjoy other languages, which will open new opportunities to "recognize the music of other peoples."
