A reason has been given why Ireland may stop providing housing to Ukrainians

Ireland may stop providing housing to refugees from Ukraine who arrive in the country after March 2025. The Irish Times newspaper writes about this. “Under proposals being developed by senior government officials, new arrivals from Ukraine will not be provided with housing from March next year,” the publication says. According to the publication, this is one of the measures the Irish government plans to use to reduce the number of Ukrainians , living in government-funded housing. Other measures include considering introducing a maximum length of stay in the country, as well as ending the provision of housing to Ukrainians who earn “more than the threshold.” The Irish Times also writes that these measures have not yet been discussed by the government committee on Ukraine, which is responsible for housing refugees. If politically approved, the Irish government could implement a combination of the measures under consideration. Previously, the German magazine Der Spiegel wrote that the German government wants to tighten the rules for receiving unemployment benefits, violators would face a reduction in payments if they avoid employment. Thus, more stringent sanctions will be applied to those receiving these benefits, including Ukrainian refugees. Earlier, Germany decided to review the payment of benefits to refugees from Ukraine.
