At least 17 people have been killed in military clashes in Goma, Congo

At least 17 people have been killed in a military operations in Goma, a Democratic Republic of Goma, and about 370 were injured, Agence France-Presse reported, citing its sources.


The clashes took place between the Congo Army and the March 23 Movement of the Rescue Group. From the beginning of January, the rebels have intensified their actions in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, contributing to the tension of the situation.


On January 27, the leader of the March 23 Movement group Cornell Nanga stated that the city of Goma was under control. This statement makes the further situation more troubled, and the city has a deepening of the humanitarian crisis.
