The President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan today received India's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha on the occasion of the Republic Day, the National Day of India.
The president congratulated the ambassador and the Indian people on the occasion of the national holiday, wishing peace and prosperity, according to NEWS.am.
"I am happy to congratulate you on the occasion of the Republic Day of India. Armenian-Indian relations have a centuries-old history, and after independence, Armenia-India relations were started, which currently continue to develop in all directions. Cooperation with India is one of the priority directions of Armenia's foreign policy." - said the president.
"I am grateful for the opportunity of this meeting and for the good wishes, indeed, the cooperation between our countries is growing and has a great potential for development," the ambassador said in his speech.
During the meeting, the current state and development prospects of Armenian-Indian relations were discussed.The parties paid special attention to the possibilities of expanding cooperation in high-tech, education, defense and other fields.
President Khachaturyan reaffirmed Armenia's commitment and clear position in establishing stable peace in the region.
During the meeting, bilateral efforts towards the activation of trade and economic contacts between Armenia and India were highlighted.
The parties also expressed their willingness to promote as much as possible the continuity of contacts between the business environments of the two countries through the introduction of joint business forums and other formats.
The interlocutors emphasized the need for further development and deepening of bilateral relations for the benefit of two friendly peoples.
