The General Secretary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Nurlan Yermekbaev congratulated the head of state of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on the victory in the presidential elections, noting the openness of the Belarusian state to external observation.

"Let me congratulate you on behalf of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization observation mission on your convincing victory.

"We consider the invitation to observe the elections as a sign of open external observation of the Belarusian state, trust and respect for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization," Yermekbaev emphasized during the meeting with Lukashenko, quoted by BelTA agency.
