Campaigns against illegal immigrants took place in Chicago

American authorities arrested a number of illegal immigrants in Chicago (Illinois) on Sunday. This is reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, citing a representative of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The operation involved not only ICE, but also the FBI and several Justice Department agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Marshals Service.

The crackdown on illegal immigrants was overseen by Thomas Homan, who was in charge of border security and deportation under the Donald Trump administration, and Deputy Attorney General Emile Bove.

The number of arrests and the areas where they were carried out have not yet been reported. According to the newspaper's source, the arrests did not affect churches and workplaces.
