The underwater fiber optic cable between Latvia and Sweden was damaged due to external influence. This was reported by the LSM state television and radio portal, referring to the Latvian State Radio and Television Center. According to him, the center's data transmission monitoring system recorded interruptions in the Ventspils-Gotland section.
"There are currently reasons to believe that the cable has been significantly damaged and that the damage was caused by external influences," the portal quoted LVRTC's Head of Corporate Communications Vinetta Sprugine as saying.
