Hakob studied at the Artashes Shahinyan School of Physics and was admitted to the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics at YSU through an interview. Had excellent progress all around.
During his studies at the university, Hakob started a family and had two sons with Tatevik. At first he served in the training military unit of Armavir.
After serving for several months, he applied to the command of the military unit, asking them to mediate to continue his service at the Military Institute named after Vazgen Sargsyan. After six months of study, he received the rank of lieutenant and in 2010 On March 3, he entered service in the N military unit of the Martakert region of Artsakh as a rifle platoon commander. As an officer, he served in the 5th defense district of Martakert.
In 2013, he was appointed the commander of the anti-tank platoon, effectively carrying out the command of the special purpose anti-sabotage platoon. Ara recalls 2014. August events.
"In those days, there was a large-scale attack on the entire Martakert front, these incidents are compared to the Four-Day War. At that time, the Turks were attacking the entire Martakert front.
Hakob stayed there for a month, he knew heavy equipment, he carried out all the operations himself, it is said that there were about 200 sabotage operations during that period.
If we divide the whole front of Martakert between two battalions, during that one month, more than 100 sabotage operations were repelled. Unfortunately, during these operations, Hakob lost some of his best friends.
His soldiers tell: 2013-2015. They kept 9 to 10 different posts. Whenever there was a problem, they would take out the platoon with his group. He was a senior friend, a brother, a commander, he was by everyone's side.
His soldiers say that they never saw that Jacob slept at night, he was always alert, his sleep time was from seven to nine in the morning.

Artsakh faced another war in 2016. During the April war, Hakob lost several of his friends, including one of his best friends, the officer of his battalion, Armenak Urfanyan. Father says they decided to go to Martakert with him, but a truce was signed.
After the service, before the start of the 44-day war, Jacob worked in the field of physics, but the war changed the course of many people's lives, including Jacob.
He left for Martakert on September 29. He was appointed deputy commander of the company. Hakob was immortalized on October 6.
"When his friends, the soldiers, called on October 5 and said that they wanted to go to him and fight under his command, Hakob responded: none of you come, the war is sold out.
When they asked, why are you staying then, he said, who is going to take control of the child?'' was carrying out protection.
The enemy thought that there was no one left in those positions and organized a large-scale attack on October 6, trying to break through the defense.
The enemy is able to temporarily occupy the neighboring position. Jacob's company receives an order to come to the rescue and take back that position. The enemy calls for the help of ATS. During that shelling, Hakob, Rost, was also injured.
He tells the guys who came to his aid to go ahead and take back the position.
The father says that when his son noticed the anti-aircraft guns, he stopped the platoon in one place, so that no one would get hurt, and he continued to do so even when he was injured. One of the boys is also immortalized with Jacob.
But Hakob's platoon takes the position back, it remains in the hands of the enemy for about two hours.
"When he didn't call on October 7, I started looking for him. It was like that during the service, if he didn't call for a day, then there was a problem.
When Hakob dies, his friend writes his name on a piece of paper and attaches it to his clothes. When Hakob is sent from Martakert to Goris, the paper is removed.
I called my friends in Stepanakert and told them to go to the morgue and look for him, then to Goris and everywhere else.
Maybe this intensity of searching for my son helped us to find him early. We brought him to Metsamor from there. My son's funeral was on October 12, St. In the Hovhannes Mkrtich church, we were able to say goodbye to him." The father says that Hakob gives strength to his family.
"Hakob consciously died for that land. Our goal should have been not to hand over that land. Now I am the one who continues his work so that we can fulfill his goals.
He fought for the Artsakh land to remain Armenian. It gives me strength to be able to build the country that Jacob dreamed of, and for the traitors to answer, so that I can go to Yerablur and look into my son's eyes."
