"Fact" daily writes:
The sharp increase in the fares of public transport (metro, bus, trolleybus) in the capital since February 1 naturally caused the dissatisfaction of a significant part of the public, as well as the opposition of the opposition forces, especially the opposition factions of the Council of Elders.
But it is remarkable that one of the factions of the Yerevan Council of Elders, Aram Z., is "silenced" in all this. "Republic" party headed by Sargsyan.
While Aram Z. Sargsyan "plays" Eurovote, gives epoch-making interviews with pathetic statements, defending the government at all costs, the faction of the same party is practically busy ensuring the increase of transport fares in Yerevan.
The fact that this party serves the interests of Nikol Pashinyan's government is certainly not news.
They are in the same "line" and thus "passed" to the Council of Elders. But on the other hand, they are often placed in the "old age" of the "more Catholic than the Pope" or, as it is customary to say in such cases, "more Nicole than Nicole" logic.
For example, the opposition parties have initiated that today, January 21, an extraordinary meeting of the Yerevan Council of Elders be convened in order to stop the increase in fares scheduled for February 1.
It was logical to assume that the CP faction would try to overturn that extraordinary session, to put it simply, not participate in the session.
The latter, without further ado, accepted that role and announced that they will defeat the extraordinary session of the Council of Elders.
In short, the "Republic" is in favor of the fare increase and is one of the main responsible parties.
