Pezeshkian hopes that Trump will promote peace in the Middle East

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian, in an interview with NBC News, expressed hope that US President-elect Donald Trump will contribute to the establishment of peace in the Middle East after his return to the White House.

"I hope that Trump will support peace in the region and the world, not bloodshed and war," he said, answering the question of what message he would like to send to Trump, considering his statements to increase pressure on Tehran.

In his first term as the US president, Trump announced a policy of exerting maximum pressure on Iran, imposed severe sanctions against Tehran, withdrew from the Iranian nuclear deal, and increased military-political and economic support for Israel. Iranian authorities are advising the US president-elect to abandon the policy, stressing that if he decides otherwise, the United States will face "maximum resistance" from Tehran.
