The EU has transferred 3 billion euros to Ukraine in the form of the next tranche of a loan from the Group of Seven (G7) in exchange for the proceeds from the reinvestment of frozen assets of the Russian Federation, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, wrote about this in X.
"Today we provided Ukraine with 3 billion euros in the form of the first tranche of the European part of the G7 loan," he wrote.
In turn, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Callas, also clarified in X that this loan will be repaid from the "income from Russian assets" alienated. According to him, the EU thus intends to "support the economy of Ukraine in order to free up Ukrainian money for military needs".
The tranche was also confirmed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal on his Telegram channel. "Ukraine's state budget received 3 billion euros from the EU within the framework of the ERA initiative (Ukraine Emergency Revenue Acceleration Program - TASS note)," he wrote.
