Switzerland was elected OSCE chairman in 2026

Switzerland has been elected president of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) for 2026, the Swiss Foreign Ministry announced.

At the beginning of December, Switzerland announced its candidacy. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also discussed the situation in the OSCE and the conflict in Ukraine with the Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis in December.

"Switzerland has been elected as the chairman of the OSCE in 2026. We thank the participating countries for their trust," said the publication on the X social network of the MFA.

Switzerland believes that dialogue and cooperation are necessary to develop sustainable solutions for the future.
