The Lebanese armed forces are strengthening their positions in the south of the country due to the tense situation in the region, the LBCI TV and radio channel reported.
According to the version of the Lebanese command, the decision to strengthen the military presence is explained by the fact that "Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement, to attack the sovereignty of Lebanon and its citizens."
Meanwhile, the army command, in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the commission established after the signing of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Hezbollah movement, continues to observe the ceasefire regime. Meanwhile, according to The Times of Israel, UNIFIL stated that the Israeli troops continue to strike in the south of Lebanon, and this contradicts the 1701 resolution of the UN Security Council.
"UNIFIL continues to call for the timely withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces and the deployment of the country's armed forces (instead of Hezbollah) in southern Lebanon," the publication quoted an excerpt from the UNIFIL statement.
The Israeli military, for its part, said it would investigate UNIFIL's criticism, but declined further comment. On November 27, the Israeli military and Hezbollah suspended hostilities.
Under the terms of the cease-fire agreement, the Israeli army will gradually withdraw from Lebanese territory and reserves the right to strike Hezbollah fighters if it determines they pose a threat to Israel's security.
Since then, there have been reports of Israel and Hezbollah striking each other's positions.
