The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has called on Israel to speed up the withdrawal of its troops from the territory of Lebanon, according to a message published on the organization's Telegram channel. In Lebanon, UNIFIL calls on all parties to refrain from violating UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and any action that could jeopardize the current fragile stability.
Peacekeepers will continue to monitor and report violations of Resolution 1701 and support the cessation of hostilities," the statement said.
On November 27, according to the American-French initiative, the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon entered into force. The document envisages the deployment of the Lebanese army along the southern border with the support of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. In turn, Israel must withdraw its troops from the territory of Lebanon within 60 days.
