In Syria, they announced that the events taking place in the country prevented the war in the region

Recent events in Syria have averted a regional and possibly global war, as the country will no longer be a hotbed of instability, as it was under Bashar al-Assad, the leader of the new Syrian government, Ahmed al-Sharaa, the leader of the Lebanese Progressive Socialist Party, said in Damascus. At the meeting with Walid Jumblatt.

"Our successful confrontation saved the region from a major conflict and possibly a new world war," the Syrian publication Al-Watan quoted al-Sharaa as saying.

According to him, "previous Syria was a hotbed of instability, and the regime ruling there, together with pro-Iranian armed groups, sought to divide the Syrian society."

The leader of the new Syrian government also accused the "failed regime" of organizing the assassination of Jumblatt's father, Kamal, in 1977, Lebanese President Bashir Zhmayel in 1982, and Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005.

Al-Sharaa expressed hope in building strategic relations with Lebanon and promised that now Syria "can become a support for the Lebanese in building a new strong economy" and "will respect the sovereignty and security of the neighboring state."
