American diplomats visiting Damascus on Friday, December 20, held the first official meetings of Washington's representatives with the new Syrian authorities, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.
The political future of the country and the principles of the transitional government were discussed, according to Israeli sources. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said last week that the US is in direct contact with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. However, the latter has not yet been removed from the list of terrorist organizations of the USA.
