According to Italians, Russian President Vladimir Putin is the second most influential politician in the world. Such data were obtained as a result of a public opinion poll published by the International Policy Research Institute (ISPI).
39% of respondents called the newly elected US President Donald Trump the most influential politician. 22% of respondents hope for the best with Trump's future presidency.
22% of Italians hope for peace in the Middle East and Ukraine.
The Russian leader (17%) was ahead of American entrepreneur Elon Musk (16%) and Pope Francis (13%). The list is rounded off by Chinese President Xi Jinping with 5%, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen with 4%.
42% of respondents believe that Ukraine should agree to an agreement with the Russian Federation, even on the condition of territorial concessions. Only 13% are in favor of continuing military supplies to Ukraine from the EU and the US.
"Despite the current conflicts, the majority of Italians do not want military spending to increase," said the ISPI presentation.
