The US embassy in Baku accused the Azerbaijani authorities of putting pressure on the free press, calling them "cowards" in a statement made in X. "International criticism related to the government's suppression of the free press and political society is the result of one thing: the government's suppression of the free media and civil society. It is a fact that almost three dozen journalists and bloggers have been arrested since November 2023.
Is it "cowardice" to ask why? Or is the real "cowardly" act here an attempt to divert the attention of the Azerbaijani public from this fact?
