The share of gas imported from Russia to the EU has started to grow again. Bloomberg:

The share of Russian gas imported into the EU has started to grow again in 2022. after the decline that occurred after the start of Russia's war against Ukraine in February, Bloomberg reported this, citing data from the European Commission. According to these data, if in 2022 in the first quarter, the share of supplies from Russia was 34% (the second place was Norway, which accounted for a quarter of imports), then already in 2023. In the second quarter, Russian gas accounted for 14% of the EU's imported fuel.After that, according to the data of the European Commission, the share of Russian gas started to increase again and made up 19% in the first quarter of this year.

In terms of supplies to the EU, Russia is behind Norway (34%) and the USA (20%), but it is ahead of Algeria (13%) and ahead of Azerbaijan, Qatar, Great Britain and other countries (14%) in total supplies: "Bruegel" according to the analytical center, in 2023 the latest EU Russian gas imports amounted to about 1 billion dollars per month, compared to 16 billion dollars per month in the beginning of 2022. Russia supplies gas to Europe through the territory of Turkey and Ukraine.

The transit agreement through the territory of Ukraine expires at the end of this year, Kyiv does not intend to extend it. Moscow has announced that it does not refuse transit through the territory of Ukraine. The EU's key gas companies signed a declaration calling for continued gas transit, citing the threat to energy and economic security without such supplies, which will be sent to European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen.
