Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán requested a telephone conversation with Vladimir Zelensky from Kiev to discuss the possibility of ending hostilities between Russia and Ukraine during the Christmas holidays, but was refused. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijarto, on Kossuth radio station.
The politician reminded that on December 11, Orban had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They discussed the possibility of a truce at Christmas and a large exchange of prisoners of war between Moscow and Kiev.
After this conversation, Orban decided to discuss the proposal with Zelensky. The Hungarian Foreign Minister contacted his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Sibiga and the head of Zelenskyi's office Andriy Ermak to coordinate a telephone conversation, but was refused.
