Presidential elections have started in Georgia


The elections of the sixth president of Georgia have started in the Parliament of Georgia. The voting is broadcast by the First channel of the Georgian public broadcaster.

For the first time, the president is not elected by direct popular vote, but by an assembly consisting of 300 voters. It consists of 150 deputies of the Parliament of Georgia, 21 deputies of the Supreme Council of Adjara, 20 representatives of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia and 109 deputies of the regional sacrebulo-municipal authorities of different regions of the country.
