Students forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh will receive tuition compensation

According to the decision of the government, funds were allocated from the state budget for the purpose of compensating the tuition fees of the forcibly displaced students from Nagorno Karabakh who are receiving education in primary and secondary vocational educational institutions.

Accordingly, in its today's session, the executive has approved the draft decision on "Redistribution in the Law on the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2024, Amendments to the Decision N2323-N of the Government of the Republic of Armenia of December 28, 2023".

The decision will provide compensation for the tuition fees of Nagorno Karabakh students studying in the paid system of educational institutions implementing primary (vocational) and secondary professional educational programs until September 19, 2023.

It is also planned to reimburse the tuition fee for the 2024-2025 academic year for students from families forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh after September 19, 2023, enrolled in the 1st year this year.

According to the decision, students and pedagogical workers of educational institutions providing primary and secondary professional education operating in RA marzes will receive compensation for transportation costs if they attend an institution located more than 5 km from their actual place of residence for the purpose of work or study.

As a result of the redistribution, 54 million 573.5 thousand drams will be allocated to the above-mentioned programs, of which 30 million 710 thousand drams will be allocated to the compensation of tuition fees of students from families forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh studying in vocational training institutions of the RA, and 23 million 863 thousand drams will be allocated for the purpose of compensation for transportation costs of students and pedagogical workers of vocational training institutions. :
