No decision has been made to create a BRICS single currency, Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das said.Bloomberg:the
"The idea of creating a BRICS currency was put forward by one of the BRICS member countries, and it was discussed, but no decision was made on the issue," journalists quoted him as saying.
Observers noted that Das' statement was made after the future US President Donald Trump's warning that if the BRICS countries decide to abandon the US dollar, the US will impose 100% tariffs.
"We want to reduce the risks of our trade, because dependence on one currency can sometimes be problematic due to appreciation or depreciation," the head of the Reserve Bank of India emphasized.
