Lloyd Austin and Rustem Umerov discussed further assistance to Kyiv

The US Secretary of Defense condemned Russian attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine and Moscow's use of the Oreshnik missile, which marked another escalation of the war.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had a conversation with the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Rustem Umerov. As Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said at a briefing on Monday, December 2, the topics of discussion included developments on the battlefield, as well as American security assistance to Ukraine.

Ryder said Washington will provide Kyiv with "significant additional security assistance that will include key capabilities to support Ukraine's most pressing battlefield needs, including air defenses, missile system munitions, artillery and anti-tank weapons."
