On the evening of November 17, during a Russian strike on Sumi, a missile hit a nine-story residential building, killing 11 people and injuring 68 others, dw.com reports. Among the dead are two children: a 9-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, and 10 children are among the injured.
Earlier, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine confirmed the evacuation of more than 400 people from under the rubble of the damaged house.
In six neighboring high-rise buildings, windows were broken, four cars were destroyed.
"A rocket hit a nine-story building in Sumi. I offer my condolences to the families and relatives," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel.
