The husband of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Hafid Ameir Hassan, has died of a heart attack in a hospital on the island of Zanzibar.
This was reported on September 7 by the local newspaper The Citizen. “It is with deep sorrow that I announce the death of Hafid Ameir Hassan, the husband of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan,” the journalists quoted the Vice President of the Republic, Deogratius Ndembebi, as saying.
The husband of the head of state died at approximately 08:00 local time at the Emilio Mzena Hospital, and funeral preparations are currently being organized in the village of Kizimkazi. Ameir Hassan was an agronomist by profession, rarely attended public events, and had been married to Samia Suluhu Hassan since 1978, raising four children together.
