The "Apsni 2026" chess tournament, which was held within the framework of the 23rd international festival "Abkhazia Open", has ended in Sukhum. 12-year-old Armen Topchyan from Gulripsh won the main tournament with the participation of more than 120 participants.
This is the first time in the history of the festival, when such a young participant representing Abkhazia wins the main tournament.
The third place was taken by Artyom Tabaryan, who lives in Sukhum, and Sergey Minosyan won the battle of veterans.
Children's tournaments were also held in parallel. Atom Paravyan won the competition for boys under 12 years old, and Leonid Ignoyan took the third place. Ararat Hakobyan took the first place in the group under 8 years old, and Maria Ignoyan took the second place in the competition of girls of the same age group.
