Extraordinary elections of the Council of Elders will take place in Gyumri. statement

Extraordinary elections of the Council of Elders will take place in Gyumri.

This was announced by Knarik Harutyunyan, head of the "Civil Agreement" faction of the Gyumri Council of Elders.
It is said in his statement.

"Dear citizens of Gyumri, in the 2021 Gyumri local government elections, the "Civil Pact" party presented you with our plan for the development of the city, which, however, did not receive the vote of confidence of the majority of voters, "Civil Pact" took the 2nd place as a result of the elections.

We humbly accepted the results of your vote and elected the representative of the force that received the most votes from you as mayor, assuming some responsibility for the administration of the city ourselves.

However, our further cooperation with the "Balasanyan" alliance did not work out, or at least it did not work out the way we wanted and how it would be more beneficial for the city, and we broke the memorandum of coalition cooperation, intending to serve the community already from opposition positions until the end of the term of office of the current councilor.
However, the legal processes that have arisen in recent days were incomprehensible to us followed by the resignation of the members of the council of elders of the "Balasanyan" bloc, due to which the "Civil Agreement" faction actually became the majority in the current council of elders.

Some, exploiting this fact, make unsuccessful attempts to give political nuances to the legal processes and accuse the "Civil Agreement" party of usurping power in Gyumri.

Dear citizens of Gyumri, although the "Civil Agreement" is the majority in the current Council of Elders, the current Council of Elders does not reflect the results of your vote in 2021, as well as taking into account the need to not leave the administration of the city in a state of limbo, to overcome the situation as quickly as possible and through the "Civil Agreement" contract" is not going to nominate a candidate for mayor or vote for candidates to be nominated by other factions in the upcoming meeting of the Council of Elders, and how many that without the votes of the council members of the "Civil Agreement" no one can elect a mayor, extraordinary council elections will be held in Gyumri, because the decision-maker in Gyumri is the Gyumri, the one who forms the community government is the Gyumri, and it is the Gyumri who will decide who will be the next mayor of Gyumri." .
