What will be the influence of the US on various international processes under Trump's presidency?
American scholar Suren Sargsyan, while addressing this issue, reminds Trump's earlier statements. "Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to regulate relations with Russia and will work with Russia. This, of course, will lead to certain changes on the Ukrainian front.
Trump has said that he will do everything to stop the war in Ukraine as soon as possible. Let's see how it will be implemented, how it will be given flesh and blood. He has repeatedly stated that he will try to have a dialogue with China, which is also very important.
These three directions alone show that his presidency for the next four years will bring some changes in the world.
I think this makes it obvious to everyone that Trump will still be able to change the situation in world processes. This is if we look at global issues.
Positioning towards Iran is also very important. It is also important that Trump declares that he wants to bring peace with him, he declares the same about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, while saying that he will support Israel unconditionally.
This is where I have a disconnect in the sense that, well, if it's going to bring peace and support Israel, then how, in what way is that going to happen?
I think that in the near future we will hear the answers to all these questions from him in order to understand what kind of foreign policy he will adopt in various directions," said Sargsyan in an interview with "Pasti".
And what will be the developments in our region and especially in the context of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations?
“Our region is extremely important to us, but not so important to Trump. For the first four years, we have seen a passive policy towards this region, but now the situation is a little different.
The United States has been actively working here for at least the last four years, and was actively involved in the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations. I don't think that Trump will not deal with us at all, as he did not deal with us four years ago during his presidency.
There can be some activity in this direction, particularly due to the fact that there are people around him who are well aware of Armenian problems, know in general where, so to speak, Armenia is, what problems it has, etc.
This, of course, can have an effect. Let's not forget his two messages as well: the phone call he had with Catholicos Aram I and he sent a message to the Armenian community before the elections.

What impact will Trump as president have on the "peace" process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the possible signing of a "Peace Treaty"? Now, of course, Biden's influence is gone, if it was Harris, it wouldn't be there, but at least it would be a little more.

"I am not sure that the authorities of our country want to work with Republicans in the United States. I have the impression that Republicans are generally avoided. This is the other side of the question.
But I think that both the Armenian community, lobbyists, and the church can work with the Trump administration, especially since we seem to have experience of having a direct relationship with Trump," American expert Suren Sargsyan concludes.
