Great Britain's King Charles III and Queen Camilla begin their state visit to the United States.
It will last four days and, in fact, will serve as a reciprocal visit to the two state visits of US President Donald Trump in 2019 and 2025. The King's visit coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence from Great Britain.
As with all such occasions, the emphasis is on maximum pomp, ceremony and significant symbolic events.
Charles III will be the first British monarch to address the Capitol in a quarter of a century. In 1991, his mother, Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), was the first to receive this honor.
This happened during his 13-day state visit to the United States.
