Asian countries have sharply reduced imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG), reaching the lowest level in the last six years. This is reported by Bloomberg, noting that the reason is the aggravated situation in the Middle East, which disrupted supplies and forced consumers to reduce gas consumption. According to the data, the average volume of supplies to the region fell to less than 600 thousand tons per month, becoming the lowest since June 2020. In particular, Pakistan has not received Qatari gas since the beginning of March due to the suspension of production, and imports in China have decreased by about 30 percent and in India by 20 percent. The same trend is also observed in Japan and South Korea, where some power plants are forced to reduce production or switch to other fuels. Against this background, Russian gas supplies to Europe, particularly to Spain, have increased, filling the shortage in the market.
