In Armenia, TV content generated by artificial intelligence must be marked when broadcasting

The government proposes amendments to the Law on "Audiovisual Media".  Presenting the amendments at the extraordinary session of the National Assembly, the Minister of High-tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan said that with the adoption of the initiative, it is expected that broadcasters providing audiovisual media services, when broadcasting TV content or synthetic content generated by artificial intelligence or other digital technological solutions, must necessarily indicate that the material in question was generated by artificial intelligence tools. There are no mandatory labeling requirements. As a result, the consumer is often not informed that the content is completely or partially created with the use of artificial intelligence systems. In these conditions, there is a need to establish a clear legal definition of synthetic content and provide mandatory labeling requirements for audiovisual media service providers to ensure information transparency and consumer awareness. generated or modified by the use of artificial intelligence systems or generative technologies. The marking implementation methods are also defined depending on the type of content (audio, audio or visual). Measures of liability are planned in case of violation of the requirements for labeling synthetic content. The initiative was discussed in the first reading and was adopted by voting.
