Currently, there are more than 10 100 dram notes per 1 resident. RA Central Bank

Currently, there are around 3.46 billion drams worth of 100-dram coins in circulation, that is, more than 10 coins per 1 resident.Sputnik Armeniathis was reported by the Central Bank of RA, answering the question of whether they will meet the growing demand for 100-dram notes in the conditions of new changes in the transport system.

"The Central Bank of Armenia ensures continuity of cash circulation. In addition to the general demand for cash drams, the Central Bank of RA also ensures the availability of the necessary quantities for all denominations in circulation," the Central Bank replied. At the same time, they noted that the Central Bank can and is ready to meet the additional demand for coins as needed. :

To remind, from today it is mandatory to have a 100 dram coin or QR to use the transport. Yerevan Municipality announced that it made such a decision primarily to prevent possible shadow traffic. Also, they aim not to distract the drivers from their main work.

According to the municipality, such an experience will prepare citizens for a smoother transition to the unified ticket system expected from January 1. However, as the experience of the Yerevan metro shows, it will be difficult to avoid possible problems. Since October 1, payment in the Yerevan metro is made not with a token, but with a QR code, which causes queues at various stations.
