The legislative initiative of Armen Khachatryan and Andranik Kocharyan, MPs of the National Assembly "Civil Contract" faction of the National Assembly, was adopted in the first reading in the National Assembly, by which the authors propose to make an addition to the Laws "On Military Service and the Status of Servicemen" and "On State Pensions".
The initiative proposes to preserve the right to receive a long-service military pension for those reservists who will return to contractual military service in the military units defined by the order of the Minister of Defense, but on the condition that they are appointed to a military position with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
And in the case of being appointed to a military position with a rank higher than lieutenant colonel in the same or other military units defined by the order of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, or assigned to serve in another military unit not provided for by the order of the Minister of Defense, or leaving the serviceman at the disposal of the personnel, the right to receive a military pension for long service ceases.
"It is also planned to establish the right not to suspend the appointed military pension for servicemen accepted for contract military service in certain military units carrying out combat tasks of the RA Armed Forces, defined by the order of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, and to establish the conditions for the appointment of other positions in such a military unit, in which case the right to receive a military pension for long service is preserved, including cases of termination of that right," said Armen Khachatryan.
The draft will also clarify the procedure, conditions, and deadlines for applying for recalculation of military pension after being discharged from conscription military service or contract military service in military units defined by the order of the Minister of Defense, training camp.
"There are forces that direct replenishment, one can say, is of an urgent nature.
In addition, this is an incentive for our officers and enlisted men in the reserve forces, who have not yet passed a certain age limit and are fit for service, and have passed long-term retirement, to return to service, to serve in the military units that we specify, to receive and Both pension and salary," said Armen Khachatryan.
