Japan and Italy agreed to continue sanctions against Russia

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni have agreed to continue sanctions against Russia and support Ukraine during the talks held in Tokyo, Kyodo news agency reports.

It is noted that the parties also agreed to raise bilateral relations between Tokyo and Rome to the level of "special strategic partnership".

"The cooperation between the two countries in a wide range of fields has consistently developed, and the relations between Japan and Italy have significantly deepened," the head of the Japanese government noted.

It is also reported that the leaders of the two countries agreed that the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific region are inseparable, affirming their determination to continue cooperation to realize the concept of a "free and open Indo-Pacific region".
