The 16th world chess champion, world leader Magnus Carlsen won the title of the champion of the World Rapid Chess Championship held in Doha.
The Norwegian grandmaster scored 10 out of 13 possible points and single-handedly won the first place.
Russian Vladislav Artemiev and American Hans Nieman shared the second place with 9 points each.
Alexandra Goryachkina from Russia won the women's championship title.
The World Blitz Chess Championship will be held on December 29-30.
The total prize fund is 1 million euros.
