Canada will reconsider relations with Georgia in light of the conduct and results of parliamentary elections in the country.
This is stated in a statement by the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
“In coordination with our partners from the G7 and Europe, and in light of the conduct and results of these elections, Canada will reconsider its relationship with the Georgian leadership,” the statement said.
Ottawa is ready to cooperate with the Georgian authorities if they respect democracy, human rights, the rule of law and “solve the problem of the recent rollback from democracy,” the Novosti-Georgia agency reports.
