This year, 33 deaths were recorded in the army, and not all of them were related to service. Torosyan

During the reporting period of 2024 and as of this moment, compared to the previous year, 2023, the number of deaths in the army has almost doubled, said Defense Ministry spokesman Aram Torosyan in a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly.

"Many experts, human rights non-governmental organizations, some media present to the public that 33 deaths were registered in the army this year, but they do not specify how many of these cases were related to the service.

Of the 33 deaths, 5 were due to an accident, 2 to an air crash, 5 to an illness, 11 to an accident, of which 7 were not related to the service.

A situation when a serviceman can have an accident in his own car in an off-duty place, and this finds a place in the press. Also, I should refer to the indicator presented by the Prosecutor's Office, that compared to last year, crimes in the army decreased by 48.4 percent, and I should mention that many preventive works are being carried out in this direction," he emphasized.

Torosyan mentioned that many preventive works are being carried out in this direction.
