In the first match of the fourth round of the 2025 FIDE Chess World Cup, Grandmasters Gabriel Sargsyan and Shant Sargsyan, representing Armenia, ended their matches with a draw, the Chess Federation of Armenia reports.
Gabriel Sargsyan (rank: 2616) played a draw with US Grandmaster Avonder Liang (rank: 2701) with black pieces. Shant Sargsyan (rank: 2664) played a draw with German grandmaster Frederick Swane (rank: 2640) with black pieces.
Levon Aronian, the Armenian grandmaster representing the USA (rating: 2728) won with white pieces over Radoslaw Wojtaszek, the grandmaster representing Poland (rating: 2660).
Another Armenian grandmaster representing the USA, Samuel Sevyan (rank: 2701), played a draw with Italian grandmaster Lorenzo Lodici (rank: 2572) with white pieces. The second game of the fourth round will start on November 12 at 13:30 Armenian time.
