Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that Ankara will base its decision on the possible release of Kurdish politician Selahattin Demirtas on the decision of local judicial authorities in his case.
This is how he commented on the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which on Monday rejected Turkey's appeal to review the previous decision in the case of Demirtas.
"We are a state governed by the rule of law. We will follow the decision made by the local court," Erdogan was quoted as saying by NTV.
Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc announced earlier on Wednesday that the Ankara District Court, where Demirtaş's lawyers appealed after the Strasbourg court ruling, will hear Demirtaş's case.
"We have to wait for the decision of the Ankara court," he told reporters.
