We present the speech of the coordinator of the movement, Narek Karapetyan, at the rally organized by the "Our way" movement.
"We are in the Freedom Square of Armenia. Why have we organized our meeting here today? Many important movements of our history began in Armenia's Freedom Square. First, the Karabakh movement started here, and secondly, the Armenian independence movement started here, and our fathers led both movements to victory.
Today, we, the members and volunteers of the "Mer Dzevov" movement, are starting the third movement, the movement to end the bad period and rebuild Armenia.
Many who are here are asking how we will achieve that reconstruction if there is a government that is going in a completely different way. I offer you three steps, our plan, how to achieve a peaceful change of government, how to create an opposition to the Civil Contract Party for the second or third time.
A three-step plan for change of power
Step 1: Prepare for the elections
We should all be ready, work and go to the elections. We see that the Armenian people have the opportunity to remove this group from power with fair elections and good work.
Many will say. "Dear Narek, how are we going to remove them from power, if they have state resources, they will exert pressure, they will force people to vote?" I can say at that time that the victory should be so that the votes of 10-20 thousand people who were forced to choose them do not make a difference on the final result. In other words, the defeat of the Civil Contract Party is unreserved.
Step 2: Spread the truth
What should we all do about it? Everyone who is here, I know that many people left their jobs and came here to hear answers to important questions. "Okay, what can we do to make that day come a day earlier? What do you suggest?" There have been many movements in our homeland, which for some reason did not succeed.
My suggestion is one thing. there are tens of thousands of people here, tens of thousands of Armenian citizens. All of us, if we work actively and talk to those around us, we should talk to everyone around us, tell everyone the truth, be patient with neighbors, friends, everyone. Please, this is the right way. Speak, tell, open the eyes of those people, because what we know, maybe those people don't know.
If each of the tens of thousands of people here can open the eyes of three people so that they have the right civic stance, I assure you that after a few months the situation in our society will be completely changed and this government will not have a chance to stay.
Once again, let's talk, communicate, inform our relatives, our friends, our neighbors, tell them the truth, and that is the work, the peaceful struggle that every person here can do. The spirit of the change of government is thrown into this square, this square will decide with its work whether there will be a change of government or not.
Step 3: Build the future
I plan to tell you what will happen after the change of power, so that we don't get out of one problem and face a new problem.
The first should be peaceful work, a stable country. We, the leaders of the country, should only deal with work every day, to eliminate poverty in our country one day sooner. Today, 500,000 people in our country are unemployed in the regions. If we do not fight against poverty, over the years we have found the culprits in our poverty and we have fought against those culprits, but we should not fight against the culprits, but against poverty. Every day, the entire state system must fight so that Armenia overcomes poverty in the 21st century.
All regions, all administrative regions of Yerevan, all regions of Armenia must have development plans. One region is industrial, one is touristic, one is agricultural. Yerevan should also have its ten-year development plans so that every day we know where we are going. Otherwise, today we live from Facebook post to Facebook post, our foreign and domestic policy is determined by Facebook.
In conclusion
After the change of power, we also promise that we will give two positions to the "Civil Agreement" party. the first, the road construction position, they like to make asphalt, and the second, they like to spread the asphalt. They do two things: make asphalt and spread asphalt. It seems to me that they will be satisfied, because nothing much will change in their lives after that, because they are still busy with it now.
I would also like to say what is happening with the church. Doesn't what is happening with our church remind us of something? Do you remember, after coming to power, some processes were started against the army? It was said that the officers and generals are corrupt, not brave, do not fight. Within a few years, dozens of officers and generals were dismissed from the army.
And even then it was the same handwriting. He used to say that an officer is not good, a general is not good, a soldier is good. Now they say that the priests, our priests, the priests of our church are not good, the priest is good. They create opposition, because they cannot create another opposition in our country. 95% of our country is a follower of the Apostolic Church, 98% of representatives of the Armenian nation live here, and they could not create any other opposition in Armenia, except the opposition of leaders and non-leaders. That is why they have created this opposition so that they can destroy these structures.
Now I ask you a question. Is Azerbaijan more afraid of our army today or of seven years ago? The same will happen with the church. Can you imagine a CP-ized church? Can you imagine that they want to turn the church into a structure that holds weddings, but the church is the pillar of our nationalism, and they won't succeed. Our church is not unprotected, the defenders of our church in this square are tens of thousands of people.
Also, many people ask questions and say, well, all the political forces have promised, all the leaders have promised that we will live in a more prosperous country. OK, what is the difference between your offer and the offer of others? Let me tell you how our proposal differs. Imagine: the leader of the Civil Contract Party, the editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak", how many people, how many people's lives did he make prosperous before becoming the prime minister? Five, four, three, how many people did he manage to make prosperous? And how many people did Samvel Karapetyan manage?
Thank you from everyone. I want to say that our struggle will be peaceful, but consistent. We will consistently move forward. The more consistently they attack our church, the more consistently we will defend our church. The more consistently they try to weaken the active part of our society, the more consistently we will show our strength and unity.
Thank you," the speech said.
