Israeli soldiers opened fire on a position of UN peacekeepers near the village of Dayra in southern Lebanon, UNIFIL said in a statement.
“On October 22, peacekeepers stationed at an observation post near Dayra monitored IDF soldiers clearing buildings.
The IDF soldiers, after realizing that they were being watched, opened fire on the post,” the Telegram channel says. The peacekeepers left their positions for their safety, UNIFIL added.
Earlier, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon said that an Israel Defense Forces bulldozer deliberately demolished an observation tower and the perimeter fence of the organization's position.
The Israeli Foreign Minister called the shelling of UN positions in Lebanon an accident.
