SRC. An attempt was made to import 68,500 packs of cigarettes into Armenia without excise marking


As part of the cooperation between law enforcement agencies, the operative intelligence department of SRC anti-smuggling department received operational information from the National Security Service that a large amount of tobacco products may be hidden in a truck carrying cargo from Iran to RA.

As a result of the analysis carried out on the basis of the received information, a number of vehicles were taken under control.
According to the information and public relations department of the SRC, during the implementation of the operational information, the employees of the operational intelligence department of the MDP Department of the SRC, together with the employees of the Yerevan city department of the National Security Service and the Syunik regional department, inspected the truck operated by RA citizen R.H., who arrived in Armenia from Iran. the truck. As a result, 68,500 packs of cigarettes without excise marking were found hidden under cement bags from the semi-trailer of the mentioned truck.

According to the preliminary calculation of the employees of the MDP department, as a result of importing the above-mentioned cigarettes into the territory of the Republic of Armenia by concealing them, about 22.5 million AMD excise tax was not calculated and the state budget was not paid, that is, the citizen's act has the characteristics of the crime provided for in Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. 68,500 packs of cigarettes and a truck, which are the immediate object, were taken and deposited at the "Agarak" customs checkpoint.
R.H. was arrested and submitted to Syunik Marz Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee together with the materials made up of the characteristics of the crime provided for in Article 290 of the RA Criminal Code. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a legally binding court verdict.
