Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan arrived in Kazan to participate in the BRICS summit, a TASS correspondent reports.
The plane of the Armenian leader landed at Kazan airport around 07:05 Moscow time. Pashinyan will take part in the events of the final day of the summit. Footage from the Rossiya 24 TV channel showed how the Russian delegation greeted him.
Pashinyan was treated to bread and salt, after which he got into the car and the motorcade departed from the airport. The 16th summit of the BRICS heads of state, which is the key event of the Russian Federation's chairmanship in the association, is taking place in Kazan from October 22 to 24. The BRICS association was created in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India and China, and South Africa joined in 2011.
On January 1, 2024, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia became full members of the group. The summit in Kazan will be the first in which new members of the association will also take part. Representatives from more than 30 countries are expected to attend.
