YouTube wants to receive the right to "Oscar"

YouTube is discussing the possibility of acquiring the right to broadcast the annual Oscar Awards, Bloomberg reports.

The term of ABC Television Group, which belongs to the owner of the current rights of Disney, will expire in 2028. ABC broadcasts the "Oscar" award ceremony for almost 50 years.

YouTube's interest was a surprise for the field, as other candidates for broadcasting usually have their own TV channels and streaming platforms. However, according to Bloomberg, YouTube's management has long been interested in such large-scale events. As an example, they celebrate the transaction to buy the right to broadcast the NFL Sunday Ticket games of 2023.

According to Bloomberg, this cooperation can be a beneficial step for the academy, as it will help attract attention to the ceremony in recent years.

It should be reminded that the 98th "Oscar" award ceremony will take place on March 15 2026.
