On July 20, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced publicly with his followers to organize a gathering in the central square of Vagharshapat and initiating another harassment of the Mother See. The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin issued a statement.
"The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin condemns this experience of attack and violence, which is an open interference with the life of the Armenian Church and its self. We urge the ruling political force to stop the anti-church, illegal campaign and overcoming the serious problems facing the country.
At the same time, we apply to the competent authorities and officials to take all necessary and legal means to prevent this illegal event. The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin highly appreciates the love and loyalty of our people towards the mother Church and zeal to protect the spiritual center of all Armenians and our cherished sacraments.
We call on the children of our people not to provide the provocations of the authorities, to maintain vigilance and common sense, with faith and prayer for the confrontation of existing trials, "the statement said.
