The press conference nor the attempts to rewrite history cannot change this fundamental reality. Pashinyan is trying to convince the world that Armenia has no need to say on Nagorno Karabakh. His motives are obvious: to please Azerbaijan, avoid diplomatic confrontation, distracting responsibility and continue to cling to power. His rhetorical turn that Nagorno-Karabakh has never really been Armenian, a moral and political betrayal, which is historical and legally false. Karabakh has never been part of an independent Azerbaijani state.
His Armenian roots stretch millennia, long before the formation of modern Azerbaijan. The area declared its independence in 1991 on the same Soviet legal basis, which formed the post-Soviet republics of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
