Kirist Koventri took over the post of President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), according to the official website of the organization.
Coventri replaced German Thomas Bach, who was headed by the organization since 2013.
"I am grateful with gratitude, confidence and glad to the keys to the Olympic house to the 10th President of the IOC Kirist Coventri," Bach said.
He also thanked the members of the IOC to honor him to the title of Lifetime President.
Bach was also awarded the Olympic gold chain for his significant contribution to world sports and dedication to the Olympic values.
Kirust Coventri is 41 years old. He is from Zimbabwe, a former swimmer, a double Olympic champion (2004, 2008), the 7-winner of the World Cups and a multiple record holder.
The first woman and the first African president in the history of the IOC.
