For the first time in history, British intelligence women will be headed by

The Secret Intelligence Service of the United Kingdom (MI6) is the first time a woman will be headed. This fall, Richard Moi, will replace Mi6's long-term employee Blayz Metewell, said Prime Minister Kir Starmer.

The Prime Minister said that the "historical appointment" in the foreign intelligence service occurs when the work of intelligence agencies is "more important than ever", as the country faces "unprecedented scale threats", including espionage and hacker attacks.

The head of MI6 is the only publicly known employee of the service and is directly accountable to the British Foreign Minister.

Bluez Metewelli, 47, joined Mi6 in 1999 during the years of studying anthropology at the University of Cambridge. Most of his career spent in the Middle East and in Europe operative work. He is currently heading the share of MI6 technology and innovation.
